CESPHN – SUPPORT FOR NURSES WORKING IN GENERAL PRACTICE

Are you a new nurse working in general practice?

Our practice support team are available to provide you with a Practice Nurse orientation session which includes a copy of our Practice Nurse Resource Guide.

We can also provide you with ongoing support to help you learn and succeed in your new role.

These sessions can either be an in general practice or a virtual visit.

Therapeutic Goods Administration issues warning about prilocaine/lidocaine (EMLA) cream

There have been 2 serious adverse event cases in neonates in which EMLA (topical prilocaine/lidocaine cream) was applied for a circumcision procedure.

Health professionals should instruct parents and carers to use only the recommended amount of EMLA on the child’s skin, and to leave it on the skin for only the recommended length of time.

Support your patients to live well with heart disease

The National Heart Foundation have released a new resource library for health professionals.

MyHeart MyLife is a free, evidence-based support program for people living with coronary heart disease and their carers. To support patient education and referral to the program, the Heart Foundation has launched a brand new resource hub.

Enhanced NSW Cancer Plan Performance Index now live

The NSW Cancer Plan sets the overall direction for the state’s cancer control efforts. It ensures that work is coordinated, collaborative and considers the needs of people affected by cancer.

One of the tools used to track this progress is the NSW Cancer Plan Performance Index. This tool has high-level indicators that provide a snapshot of how the state is measuring against the Plan’s target outcomes.

Primary care professionals can use the plan to help support project planning and initiatives.
