Please note that events must be held in the next 12 months, be hosted within the CESPHN catchment, and be relevant to general practitioners, allied health professionals, practice nurses, practice managers or practice staff.
Central and Eastern Sydney PHN has full discretion to reject external event requests or cease the promotion of any external events on our website.

Family Based Therapy (FBT) is an evidence-based eating disorder specific outpatient treatment first developed at the Maudsley Hospital in London in the 1980’s with further development in the USA (Stanford and Chicago) in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. A treatment manual was published in 2002 enabling FBT to be disseminated outside of these development sites. FBT is the current recommended first line treatment for adolescents with AN and first became available in Australia in 2003 at The Children’s Hospital, Westmead.

Enhancing our client’s motivation to change and building their self-efficacy is absolutely paramount when it comes to treating people experiencing eating and body image issues- including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. This one day workshop for allied health practitioners provides an introduction to/ refresher of motivational interviewing with a specific application to eating disorders. In particular the workshop will emphasize how to work with clients in precontemplative, contemplative and determination/ preparation stages of change.
