The Australian Government has invested in mental health supports to meet the needs of those impacted by the Bondi Beach attack. This includes statewide targeted mental health supports for the Jewish community.

Bondi Medicare Mental Health Centre
Medicare Mental Health Centres provide immediate support for adults experiencing distress or mental health challenges. It’s a welcoming place where everyone can access free and confidential mental health information, services, and support.

Eligibility
Available to every adult (over 18 years) living, working, or studying in central and eastern Sydney. For all genders and cultural backgrounds. You don’t need to be an Australian citizen to access support.

The new National Medicare Mental Health e-Referral form is now live for GP Practices in the Eastern Suburbs via the HealthLink SmartForms portal integrated in GP software.
This means that GP Practices are invited to start using e-Referral as the primary way to refer into the Bondi Medicare Mental Health Centre.

Psychological Support Services (PSS)
The PSS program is currently accepting referrals for individuals impacted by the Bondi Beach attack.

For urgent or crisis assistance at any time, please call NSW mental health Line on 1800 011 511 (24/7), or dial 000 for emergencies.
Psychological Support Services (PSS) provides free access to short-term psychological therapy either face-to-face or via telehealth. PSS is for people experiencing mild to moderate mental health concerns who live in the Central and Eastern Sydney region and are experiencing financial hardship or low income, and who may not be able to access support through Medicare subsidised psychological services.
headspace Bondi Junction
headspace centres provide face-to-face and telehealth services to young people aged from 12 to 25 years and their families and friends.

Service Navigation Support
This initiative offers social work support to larger general practices in Bondi and nearby areas. The social worker aids patients affected by the Bondi Beach attack, provides practical and emotional assistance, and helps with referrals and access to community services.

Targeted mental health and wellbeing support services for the Jewish Community
Jewish Care and Jewish House
Jewish Care and Jewish House are offering a range of practical, emotional, clinical and financial supports to people affected by the Bondi Beach attack.

CESPHN has provided funding to Jewish Care to offer free face-to-face psychological support in Sydney and free telehealth support across NSW as well as in-person therapeutic group programs until 30 June 2027.

CESPHN has provided funding to Jewish House provide mental health and wellbeing support through crisis line access, clinical assessment and psychological care and counselling as well as community recovery group activities to foster connection and resilience until 30 June 2027.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Grants Program
In collaboration with all NSW PHNs and the ACT PHN, CESPHN has coordinated a statewide small grants program to provide funding to organisations with strong links to Jewish communities to deliver targeted mental health and wellbeing initiatives.

Chabad of Rural and Regional Australia (Chabad of RARA)
Chabad of RARA will deliver a mobile wellbeing outreach program for Jewish individuals and families living in rural and regional NSW. Through visits to regional communities, Rabbis will provide faith-based support, opportunities for connection, community gatherings, referral and service navigation support, and ongoing follow-up where needed. The program aims to reduce social isolation, strengthen social connection, support emotional recovery, encourage help-seeking, and build resilience among Jewish communities with limited access to existing local supports.

Jewish Education Matters (JEMS)
Jewish Education Matters will deliver culturally responsive, trauma-informed wellbeing initiatives for children, parents and young people within the Jewish community impacted by the Bondi attack. This includes peer-support dinners for parents, a school-based outreach program supporting Jewish teenagers in mainstream schools to strengthen connection and resilience, and youth resilience retreats that support emotional recovery and engagement with community. Together, these activities aim to reduce social isolation, strengthen peer connection, support emotional wellbeing, and encourage help-seeking within a safe and supportive community environment.

Friends of Refugees of Eastern Europe (Chabad of Bondi)
Chabad of Bondi will deliver trauma-informed wellbeing retreats tailored to different groups within the Jewish community impacted by the Bondi attack, including young adults, older people, and families with children. These structured, culturally appropriate retreats will combine psychoeducation, peer connection and other activities to support emotional recovery, reduce distress, rebuild a sense of safety, and strengthen community connection. The program will also encourage ongoing help-seeking and engagement with mental health and community services.

Nefesh Synagogue
Nefesh Synagogue will deliver a weekend Shabbaton retreat to support individuals and families within the Jewish community impacted by the Bondi attack. The retreat will provide a safe, culturally grounded and trauma-informed environment that combines wellbeing workshops, peer-support, faith-based practices and family-focused activities to support emotional recovery, reduce distress, and strengthen connection and belonging. The program aims to increase awareness of, and engagement with, appropriate mental health and community supports to support ongoing recovery.

Parramatta & District Synagogue
Parramatta & District Synagogue will deliver a series of Shabbat community connection and healing dinners for Jewish individuals and families in Western Sydney impacted by the Bondi attack. Held in a culturally safe and welcoming environment, these gatherings will provide opportunities for social connection, peer support, community belonging and informal wellbeing support. The program will take a trauma-informed approach and include access to culturally appropriate information and referral pathways to mental health and community services where needed. The initiative aims to strengthen community connection, support emotional wellbeing, reduce isolation, and encourage help-seeking and resilience.

Maccabi NSW
Maccabi will deliver inclusive weekly pickleball sessions that integrate adapted physical activity with structured social connection and emotional wellbeing supports.
The initiative will provide a culturally safe environment for people with disabilities and neurodivergence within the Jewish Community to strengthen resilience, manage distress, and foster a sense of belonging.

COA Sydney
COA Sydney will deliver culturally meaningful hardship care packages to vulnerable Jewish Community during key festivals, Pesach (Passover) and Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year), providing practical support alongside personal connection and informal wellbeing check-ins. Through trauma informed, culturally safe engagement and warm referrals to support services, the program aims to strengthen emotional wellbeing, community connection, increase help-seeking and resilience during periods of heightened vulnerability.
